Unspoiled Nature and Falls Beautiful falls and hike in the mountains of Biliran. A mostly pristine and unspoiled tourist attraction due to the difficulty of getting there and the hike. It likely only gets one or two small groups of tourists per day. We did not see any other tourists when we were there and I suspect we were the only visitors that day. We did see some locals in the area who were doing agricultural activities. Most of them seemed to be making the tuba palm wine alcoholic drink from the coconut trees. You need to arrange a habal habal to take you to the end of the road where the path begins. Some drivers will take you to the falls themselves but local guides are also available at the end of the road. The hike in is reasonably difficult though it was probably more difficult than usual when we were there in March of 2018 because there were many spots still damaged from the landslides that occurred during typhoon Urduja. We couldn't get to the second waterfall because the path was too dangerous due to landslide damage. Possibly the path has been repaired now. The hike is very beautiful as are the falls. The water is cold and refreshing but the ground is rocky so I would recommend bringing aquatic footwear to protect your feet. Definitely a worthwhile trip if you are able to do a reasonably demanding hike. We combined it with a trip to some of the rice terraces in that area which makes it a whole day activity. The rice terraces are on a different road to the interior than the falls but not far away so easy to do both with a habal habal.
